LOS ANGELES  — Johnny Wactor, a former actor on the popular soap opera General Hospital, was tragically shot and killed in downtown Los Angeles while attempting to stop thieves from stealing the catalytic converter from his car, according to his family.

The incident occurred at approximately 3 a.m. on Saturday. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Wactor approached three men who were tampering with his vehicle. His mother, Scarlett Wactor, informed ABC 7 that Johnny had just finished work at a rooftop bar and was accompanied by a coworker when he noticed someone near his car. Initially believing it was being towed, he soon realized the men were thieves. One of the suspects, who was wearing a mask, then opened fire.

The three suspects fled the scene immediately after the shooting. Wactor was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. As of late Sunday, no arrests had been made in connection with the incident.

David Shaul, Wactor’s agent, released a heartfelt statement on Sunday, expressing deep sorrow over the loss. “Johnny was a real moral example to everyone who knew him. Throughout the highs and lows of his challenging profession, he always maintained a positive outlook and strived to be the best he could be. Our time with Johnny was a privilege, and he will forever leave a hole in our hearts. He would literally give you the shirt off his back.”

Johnny Wactor’s career was highlighted by his role as Brando Corbin on General Hospital, a character he portrayed from 2020 to 2022. His impressive acting credits also included roles in TV series such as Station 19, NCIS, and Westworld, as well as in the popular video game Call of Duty: Vanguard.

Wactor’s untimely death has left his family, friends, and fans in deep mourning. His legacy as a talented actor and a kind-hearted individual will be remembered by many.
